Surrealism Assignment (Photoshop)

This is my surrealism assignment image. I chose the theme--or the problem--of Bipolar disorder to be the inspiration behind the design of this project. The basic idea of the image is that the ground is splitting, due to the emotions pulling the subject more towards their sides, which is basically bipolar disorder; during fits of laughter and episodes of sadness and anger, your mind couldn't make up its' mind as to what emotions you are feeling.
To begin with the process, I acquired a basic background of an empty and ominous-looking room. With this image, I created a new photoshop document and adjusted the brightness of the image. I then found the image of the window, copied the layer, then used the eraser tool to erase half of each image to give the effect of 'splitting'.
I then created a background layer and copied in an image of a galaxy. In the centre of the 'room' layer, I used the eraser tool to create what looks like the room splitting. I then lined up the split window with the crack in the wall, adding another section of large cracks on the floor.
Then creating a new layer and adding in the centre subject, I darkened the subject and edited in images of arms grabbing at her.
As an added touch, I painted 'blood dripping' on the room wall around the crack in the image, then writing 'HELP ME' to add to the dramatic, dark feel of the entire image itself.

Zsat is all. ( . _ . ; )
